Roaming Rome - Part 1

Roaming Rome - Day 1

Started off 10ish am. Went to Termini station start off my journey. I Had no actual plan - all I wanted to see was the Colloseum today everything else would be gravy.
The Colosseo was only 20 minutes away from the hostel and as expected it was F********** PACKED!. I didn't go inside any of the sites because of the line up. My goal is to go early tomorrow to avoid the loooooong line up both at the Colosseo and at the Forum.

After these sites I decided to get something to eat because at this point it was around 12-1pm and I didn't have anything yet to eat. Normally this would have been okay but I was exhausted after only 2 and something hours because of the scorching heat!.

When I arrived at the Piazza di Fiori I was disappointed because there were no street vendors selling food -only restaurants all around!. So I bought souvenirs instead because there were a lot of specialty foods being sold. I bought aged balsamic vinegar for my brother in law and shirts for my niece and nephew.

On the way to the way to Piazza Navona I got lost 3 times. The first time I walked too far but at least I found a grocery store so I grabbed some milk, bread, jam, and crackers = 5.17 Eur! I saved so much money so yay!. Second time I walked too far again and instead got to visit Castel Sant' Angelo where I realized that I walked too far and headed back. I turned on the wrong street on the right way to the Piazza and bought some relatively cheap souvenirs. Finally I arrived and was spent! soooo tired my feet could not take it anymore.

I decided to go back to the hostel but realized the Fontana di Trevi and the Pantheon was close by so I decided to go. Amazing sites but again full of so many people. I thought I missed the Pantheon wbut then googled it and realized that the Pantheon is used as a church aka Basillica di Sancta Maria ad Martyres. I really did try to walk home but was so thirsty and the heat really got to me so I spent 1 Eur for a bottle of ice cold water (WORTH IT! and 2 Eur in the stand next to him) and spent 1 more Eur to go on the bus then back to the hostel!. Also, I knew that if I continued to walk I would get distracted again and just feel more like crap. hehehehe

When I got back to the hostel I drank a lot of cold water and elevated my feet. Time: 3ish pm of maybe 4m

Wow this summary makes my day seem so short..... but I swear one of the best 6ish hours of my life but also one of the most tiring hehehe.....
